The other side of the Golden Horn: bars, restaurants, galleries and u0130stiklal Street. Livelier, better for eating, and 15 to 20 minutes by tram from the main sights. The best all-round choice for a longer stay.
Beu015fiktau015f and the Bosphorus
Waterfront, residential and well connected by ferry. Good if you want the strait on your doorstep and do not mind commuting to the old city.
Kadu0131ku00f6y, on the Asian side
Where Istanbul residents actually go out. Excellent food and markets, cheaper rooms, and a ferry ride from the historic peninsula. Best if you have been before.
