The itinerary
Day one: pick-up around 03:00 to 04:00, private transfer to the airport, flight to u0130zmir and a full day at Ephesus. Overnight, then Pamukkale and Hierapolis on day two before flying back.
Pamukkale
The travertines are a cascade of pools of different sizes, formed by calcium-rich springs depositing white stone over millennia. You walk them barefoot, and the water running across them is warm.
When to go
Spring or autumn. Summer is very hot at both sites, and both are largely unshaded u2014 Ephesus is marble and Pamukkale is white stone, so the glare is considerable.
